Varvara Kaplyar
Dniprovsk, Kherson region.

Pani Varvara is 89 years old. Before the full-scale invasion, she lived in the village of Dniprovsk in the Kherson region. Since the war began, her village has been constantly under shelling. When a shell hit her garden, the shockwave damaged her house, knocking out all the doors and windows. Since then, she has had issues with her nervous system. Now, her house is completely destroyed, and there is no one left in the village.
Upon arriving at the shelter, Pani Varvara finally began to feel safe. The love, care, and support from the shelter staff helped her endure the pain and despair of the memories of the past.
Thank you for your support, care, and understanding. Thanks to you, I have regained hope and faith in the future.
She stopped flinching all over her body after the shelling, and the trembling in her hands passed. Thanks to this, Varvara Andriyivna returned to her beloved hobby – knitting. Now, she knits socks for demobilized soldiers in the hospital, and these are delivered to them by our volunteers, carrying the support of this brave woman. Despite the hardships she has faced, Mrs. Varvara remains sincere, kind, and strong!
