Valentina Moryakova

Valentina Moryakova is 86 years old. Despite her age, she is very lively and talks non-stop. Every staff member at the shelter has received a compliment from her. Additionally, she prays every day, as she is left completely alone in this world.

Valentina was born in Tatarstan. In 1953, she moved to Ukraine with her parents to Kherson, where she got married and lived her entire life until the war began.

Her marriage was short-lived, lasting only five years, so she had to raise her daughter, Irina, on her own. Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t work out, and they are no longer in touch. Valentina has three granddaughters, but they all live abroad and are unable to take care of their grandmother.

When the war broke out, Valentina was alone at home. Her apartment was repeatedly damaged during the shelling. The police decided to evacuate her to a safer place. Volunteers were contacted, and they helped her reach the Carpathian region.

“It was very scary,” the woman confesses. “But here, everything is quiet, calm, homely, warm, clean, and the food is delicious. I live as if I’m in God’s care, so I am very grateful to all the shelter staff.”
